Ollie's Learning Reflection

My SOLO Work by Ollie

This week I have been working with Larson and Luca and looking at sport, old sport like rugby, soccer, cricket, hockey tennis and lots of others.
I have done a define , describe, part whole, sequence and compare and contrast maps. My favourite one is the part whole one because you get four parts of your idea and say if this part is missing then………. and so part function is ……....
My goal is to do a map called evaluate and I think it’s going to be really difficult. I like a challenge.
At first when we started SOLO work I thought it was going to be really hard but when I saw Elliot’s work I thought it would be fun and I was right. Now I am up to extended abstract!!
I think I am pretty good at improving. Once you are up to relational you can create something related to your idea. It doesn’t have to be a model. My group made a poster.
On one of the walls in Room 22 is a creating wheel. It has lots of ideas to do instead of a model.

Mason's Learning Reflection

This Week in SOLO Taxonomy By Mason

This week in SOLO I thought it was going to be the hardest thing ever and so I felt nervous but when I got into it with help from Tom and I used the SOLO Rubric, it was not easy but fun.
I also had the biggest Blast From the Past in the World.
Remember that time when everyone in the class, including you, had no idea about any of this and were all at prestructual and now we know basically all about it. That’s it up to this day how it all started and how I got to relational thinking.
So if you need any help with SOLO Taxonomy you know where to find me!

Elliot's Learning Reflection

My SOLO Work by Elliot Room 22

This week I learnt a lot about early 1900 planes and it involved the Wright Brothers because they were the first people to fly.
One of the things I enjoyed was my maths sheet. It had two different types of grids. It had some questions on measurement and also six objects we had to name which measurement we would use for each one.
Now (19/9/14) I am on my second SOLO Rubric and I am at relational thinking already.
Some of the maps I have done are part whole analysis map, define map, describe map sequence map and a compare and contrast map. I learnt how to use an Evaluate map which is sort of like going to court because you have to have evidence, you have to say how strongly you feel and you have to judge the winning side of the argument.
The two things I am researching from the past on are houses and planes. I am feeling great about the SOLO work because it helps improve my learning.
My next goal to improve is to get up to extended abstract and start a third SOLO rubric. My partners are Joe and Corbin.

Anya - Description

Waimairi School Description

Waimairi school has over 500 people in the school and is a great place to learn new things and make new friends.

The Waimairi School library is special because if you want to read a book and you want to be somewhere quiet you can go to the library. The library is a quiet and I  see lots and lots of books. There are also fiction and nonfiction books we also have librarians because if Sue is busy the librarians can help you. I can hear lot of people chattering.

The Waimairi School hall is special because it is a place where you can play games and if you fall over you won’t get hurt. The hall is a useful place and a very open space.

The Waimairi School office is special because if you get hurt you can go into the sickbay in the office there is Sue and Sandra. They are the people that can help you when you need it. There is a staff room. Thats where the teachers eat and there are teachers offices.

The Waimairi School classrooms are special because if you want to work somewhere warm and quiet you can go to the classroom. The classrooms are small and and very colourful. The classrooms are quiet but sometimes noisy. There is always a teacher that can help you. There are lots of children.

The Waimairi School field is special because when you fall over it won't hurt because the grass is soft. The field is a very open space and is very useful. It smells very dirty. I here the wind whistling in my ear. The field reminds me of my backgarden because it is an open space and very useful.

The Waimairi School court is special because not all schools have a court and it is very special because people can play on their scooter and other things. I hear kids screaming because they’re having fun fun fun. I hear the gasping wind catching my face. The court reminds me of the scooter park because there are lots of people playing on their scooter or skateboard and even their bikes.

Overall I think Waimairi school is special because we had things that other schools don't have and because it is a unique school.

Rossburn Museum

                                  The Trip to the Museum

Since we were learning about the past it was good that Kiri, Mrs Jenkins and Mr Lukes thought of taking Otakaro to the Rossburn Museum. That was all about the past thankfully.

We all went in cars for transport then we arrived inside  a cosy warm place. Next we all had morning tea by the fire so then we walked into the coldness so we saw model planes and forty five tractors including a fire truck.
